SEEDArts builds community by presenting diverse arts experiences, nurturing local artists, and infusing creativity into our neighborhoods. We offer visual, performing, media, and public art programs in Southeast Seattle that support and sustain artists, inspire and connect residents, and revitalize community.
Our programs focus on:
SEEDArts is committed to becoming an inclusive and anti-racist organization. To make our arts experiences accessible, our programs are located within the communities we serve, are community driven and culturally relevant, and are offered for free or low-cost.
SEEDArts has grown from a grassroots community arts program, launched in 1982, into a multidisciplinary arts organization that serves one of the most geographically diverse and economically challenged neighborhoods in the city.
Columbia City Gallery is an artists’ collaborative that brings together emerging and professional artists working in diverse media. The Gallery provides an exhibit space for member artists, as well as a dedicated space for community exhibits. Our community exhibits showcase art that explores issues relevant to the experience and challenges faced by local members of our community, and showcase artists who reflect the diversity of Southeast Seattle. The Gallery also features a gift shop with the work of local artisans, craftspeople and designers.

Rainier Arts Center is Southeast Seattle’s multicultural performing arts center, providing a platform for music, dance, theater, film and cultural events. The Center presents outstanding performances, encourages cultural dialogue, and celebrates the diversity of our community. We believe in the importance of community groups producing their own arts and cultural celebrations to share their culture with others. The Auditorium, Event Hall, and Columbia Room are available to rent for community events and performances.

SEEDArts promotes art as a tool for community development. The public art program enhances Southeast Seattle neighborhoods with community-inspired public art projects. We connect professional artists with developers and community groups to design, fabricate, and install artworks in public and private spaces. We also offer free art classes for youth at several of SEED’s affordable housing developments. SEEDArts serves as the co-chair for the Columbia Hillman Arts & Cultural District.
